2 Notorious Trouble Spots In End Of Lease Cleans

by Ralph Rodriquez

When you're moving out of a rental property, having your bond returned to you promptly and without deductions is a common concern. If your property hasn't been cleaned sufficiently, many letting agents will withhold part of your bond to pay for the cleaning costs involved in preparing the property for the next tenants. Letting agents are notoriously fickle with their cleanliness expectations, and many people find that they are losing money because of small, overlooked cleaning jobs. Here are two areas that often catch tenants out.

1. Ceiling fans

Cleaning ceiling fans is a task that's easy to miss because it's difficult to see how dirty they are from standing height. You can be assured that your letting agent won't forget to check them for dust and grime though.

To clean them properly, start off by removing the loose layer of dust with a duster of your vacuum cleaner. The next step is to wipe over each blade with warm soapy water to remove the grime that builds up when dust is exposed to moist air. It's a good idea to do this task before you have your carpets steam cleaned to prevent any falling debris from creating fresh stains on the carpet beneath.

2. Tracks of sliding windows and doors

The tracks of sliding windows and doors are another area that many people forget about. These tracks usually contain a mix of dust, debris, dead insects, and pet hair which can be stubborn to remove if left to build up over a long period of time.

To effectively clean the tracks, you should begin by clearing as much of the build-up away with your vacuum cleaner. A very slim line attachment to the vacuum head will help you really get down into the small gaps. After that, use a cloth soaked in warm, soapy water to remove any remaining dirt. Wrapping the cloth around a butter knife will help you to reach the hard to reach parts of the tracks.

Cleaning a rental property to the high standards of letting agents can be a time consuming and backbreaking task. Like many other people, you may decide to outsource the job by employing the services of a cleaning company that specialises in end of lease cleaning. They will have the skills and cleaning tools to clean your property quickly and efficiently. This will save you precious time, and ensure that your bond is returned to you in a timely manner and with the least amount of fuss.

About Me

Cleaning Challenges and Solutions: A Cleaning Blog

Welcome to my blog. My name is Andrew. At home, my wife does all the cooking, but cleaning is my job. I also own a small business. As a result, I'm charged with keeping things clean at both work and home. At work, I have a cleaning crew that comes in nightly, and I have specialists (carpet cleaners, window washers, etc) who come in as needed. At home, my kids do chores, and I handle most of the rest. I only outsource dry cleaning and a bit of seasonal deep cleaning. In this blog, I am going to write about keeping your home and office clean. I plan to include a range of tips, and I hope that they help you. Thank you for reading!
